1976 Dodge Aspen, Slant-six Engine, 38k miles
$5,000
I’ve got the number if you want to call on it.

Ah, no. There’s somebody here in SLO asking $9k for a slant-6 Dart that’s also less than perfect. Old Mopars are cool, but not crackpipe cool, especially not for a ‘76 that still has to be smogged.

They only had 5 digit odometers, so it could just as easily be 138k.

Knock a zero off, then maybe?

Exactly.

I hadn’t thought of that. The interior is very good on this one.

That’s what I was thinking when I called the guy. I could see him getting $1,500 for it, but not from me.

The car caught my eye enough to turn around and go back and take pictures of it. I’d be okay with a slant-six, but in California, it has to be 1973 or older to avoid smog testing.

That sucks. NC doesn’t need an inspection after 35 years.

Actually its 1975 and older are smog exempt now.

I’d pay that for a V8 Super Coupe maybe.

We have that up here in the six (Greater Toronto Area, ON, CANADA).
In my city, we had a ‘73 Dart with parts from a ‘72 Dart/Valiant, ‘74 Dart, and ‘76 Dart in it. Had a shitty rattle-can flat black paint job. Many dents, lots of pieces missing, but runs and drives okay. Guy wanted $11,000 CDN (about $9,000 US). Me and my buddies figured it’s about a $1,700 car ($1,350 US). He was asking 7 times what it’s probably worth.
And that wasn’t the only time...

Well, those old vinyl interiors wear like iron, and it is a slant six, so it’s going to run pretty much the same regardless of how many miles it has.

The Slant-Six is a totally unremarkable, yet totally amazing engine.

The missing door trim is a deal breaker.
